And I agree with you about the tooth fairy. I made a heck of alot of money as a kid from my teeth on his (or her) account. Although admittedly there is a distinct lack of historical texts and testimony surrounding the T fairy. (no offence to any tooth fairy supporters) Either way, atleast we agree on separation of church and state. I love the motherland (just a convict here) but I'm glad i didn't grow up with christianity shoved down my throat at school. I discovered it on my own account.
Possibly in Britain and America but definitely not in Australia.I suspect this is why Dawkins is so reactive about the situation as are so many americans.there is still a leap in logic to say that its dangerous. How many Christians do you personally know have engaged in violent acts in the name of God?I know a few old ladies who pray alot, they may be deluded in Dawkins opinion but I'm yet to reguard them as dangerous (although one could do serious damage with a metal walking frame if provoked).
"They feed buddhists, muslims and hindus without ANY obligation of belief. "
WHERE did I assert they didn't?
Any other position would be untenable for such a mainstream organisation.
'reinforcing evangelistic christianity' does not mean I think they withhold aid based on belief, or even require people listen to a message - which some other groups do.
BUT- partnering with churches in hindu areas is inflammatory. 'world evangelical alliance' is one. Not proselytizing by stealth you reckon?!
"attacked violently and your conclusion is that they are dangerous."
There is only so much I can put in a tube-comment.
My (firm, but open) conclusion is that they are part of creating divisions, albeit at arms-length. They may also be suffering from being tarred by the bad deeds of evangelists they have no direct relationship with.
They are one of the better of a bad bunch - and sure, some programmes may be as good and well run as any secular one. I'd still never give them a cent.
okay, if that's your point, then why not teach the tooth fairy and santa claus and all the other myths as fact too? let's make it fair!
do you disagree that if you're brought up in an american/british/australian/canadian school, chances are you'l be taught as though you're christian and you regularly attend church, and the other religions will be included in "other religions of the world".... what dawkins says, is teach them all un-biasedly, then see if anyone takes one of them as gospel truth
They feed buddhists, muslims and hindus without ANY obligation of belief. That is a misleading assertion and totally wrong. Yes they do this all in the name of Jesus and provide bible studies for those who are INTERESTED. The attacks are undemocratic not to mention unbuddhist.
You've just listed a list of examples where world vision were attacked violently and your conclusion is that they are dangerous. Yes they are unashamedly christian. but they NEVER force those they help to believe. That is simply a lie. If someone bombed your house does that make you dangerous? I can't believe you cannot see the difference. Freedom of religion is a pillar of democracy.
yes. but thats quite a bit different from blowing up people. THis is clearly a one sided documentary. I'm sorry you're distrustful but you can't deny the work they do. And yes, i admit its motivated by belief.
you can't stop people believing just because you think its fiction. Do you then say, "belief is not allowed?". Just not sure where this is heading. Freedom of religion is an important part of democracy. Do you agree?

Well it's a lie I didn't make.
'reinforcing evangelistic christianity' is not the same as doing it directly. I know damn well they have a ban on proselytization.
