Bárðarbunga ("Bow-thar-bungar" in English) the giant Icelandic stratovolcano may be about to awaken according to Icelandic scientists. Bárðarbunga lies beneath the NW part of the Vatnajökull icecap, NW of Grímsvötn volcano, and contains a subglacial 700-m-deep caldera. It rises to 2,009 m (6,591 feet) above sea level, making it the second highest mountain in Iceland. Bárðarbunga last had a major eruption in 1477 when it produced a large ash and pumice fall-out deposit. Bárðarbunga also produced the largest known lava flow during the past 10,000 years on earth.

Grímsvötn Erupts
It is now confirmed that an eruption has started in Grímsvötn in Vatnajökull Glacier. The smoke from the eruption can be seen from many places in south Iceland according to RÚV television.
Grímsvötn volcano in the middle of Vatnajökull glacier is the most active volcano in Iceland. Since 1920 the eruptions have been in 1922, 1933, 1934, 1938, 1945, 1954, 1983, 1998 and 2004. Many of the eruptions have lasted from one to three weeks, the 2004 eruption lasted only four days.

Today- May 21 it is awoken, Politicians see nop problems for airtraffic Last year ( April Ejafiallajokulll)after 2 days an emergency situation emerged as it turned out that all in germany was /is transported by airtraffic G. traffic minister was asked why shop transportation went ruined and why railway transportations were reduced to almost zero. When companies ran out of supply they immidiatelyl restored flight permissions again. Just the Britush airwas stayed downed. I´d only fly with BA
