  • @AxelTiger not exactly. he pretty much means "plain bow" with no added features such as sights, stabalizers, clickers, vibration dampeners, etc. and that is on the basic principle of a bow, bending of the limbs builds kinetic energy that propells the arrow. so no compund bows. while he classified the recurve as "traditional", traditional will mostly refer to long bows, although recurves could be considered traditional. hope this helps!

  • @DanyFolkYou You're welcome!!!

  • @Diegoveloso3 Diego, I will look into it. Thank you for your reply!

  • @DanyFolkYou There are many types of strings, some bows need to use a particular material for the string such as: Dacron, Fastflght, Kevlar, Linen and even catgut. I don't know what bow your'e making, so I don't really know what string I should recommend. If I were you, I would buy a bowyer's manual or instructional guide. A bowyer is a person who makes bows (usually traditional longbows). You can get one in your local archery store or in the internet. Hope this helps

  • What he refers to as the 'traditional bow' is also known as a re-curve bow yes?

  • Hi.. Great tutorial!

I am trying to make a bow myself, and I was wondering, could you tell me what is best to use as a string?

    Thank you.

  • 0.04 duh really? xD

  • Hmm wow what a discussion. I think first of all you guys confuse what a "recurve" and a "longbow" is. A recurve bow is simply a bow with recurved limb ends. this can mean any bow from an asiatic composite bow, a wooden slefbow with steamed in recurves or a modern olympic competition bow. I think that the habit of using the word "recurve" exlusively for modern sport equipment is misleading. Some other word sould be made for the modern sport device.
