3 was the best in my opinion. I loved the stages and the rings were SO much more interesting than 4 & 5's. If they could give 3 5's graphics and modes, then the franchise would be perfect for me.

actually the PC port is graphically better than the Saturn version, but still inferior to the arcade original. it's smack in the middle.
