Want to observe the activities of your mason bees? Here's the second version of the set up I have for watching the bees nesting in my garden.

  • Nice video. After you cut the plastic tubes to length, drop them in boiling water for a few minutes and they will be perfectly round and straight.

  • @fishingcostarica - thanks for the tip. I will try that next time.

  • thanks for vid, what size are the tubes? and what bees do you get in them? thnaks

  • @sabrinaworcester1 - the tubes are just over 10cm long and 10mm internal diameter. I got Osmia cornutas in there. Worked last year and this year - it doesn't produce a high density of cocoons, but as I found with my first observation box, it's a good way to observe their behaviour and film them.
