  • Is Mr. Stuart distantly related to THE Stuarts?

  • I don't think so.

  • Elizabeth executed Mary Stuart because Mary tried to Kill Elizabeth for her throne.

  • Elizabeth resisted executing Mary Stuart for as long as she possibly could. She had family feelings toward her cousin and probably sympathized with her plight since she herself had once been imprisoned in the Tower.

I believe it was the second plot against Elizabeth hatched in Mary's name that finally convinced Elizabeth that she could not be safe as long as Mary was alive.

  • @IronJackalTw I believe he's referring to protestantism's essentially democratic appeal to the individual's right to the scriptures and the subsequent appeal to an individualistic authority rather than Catholicism's appeal to the primacy of the church and the pope. I don't think he's saying protestantism IS democratic, rather that it lead to democracy. Which, by the way, was simply true. Magna Carta, by the way, established the rights of NOBLES, not the people. Read it.

  • Correction to dude's tale:

Elizabeth never lived with the Duke of Somerset. At this point in time--at the age of 13, she was living with her family: Kat Ashley, Tom Parry, etc.; all those who took care to bring her up was who she was living with. Henry was still alive in 1546, which is the year in which Elizabeth was 13.

Who she did live with for a short time after the death of her father was his widow, Katharine Parr and her new husband, Thomas Seymour, brother to Somerset.

  • @jennyrrr To my suprise, the movie "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" actually shows this.

  • @jennyrrr Well... certain fanatically catholic sects led by the Jesuits wished to murder Elizabeth and set up Mary Stuart as queen. Mary Stuart was just a tool of these wicked men. Elizabeth was forced to eventually listen to her advisers and have Mary executed as this was the only way to put a stop to the constant assassination attempts. But the Jesuits who were manipulating and using Mary Stuart celebrated her death because this than gave Philip rational for invading England.

  • Among Bess's suitors was Ivan the Terrible, who sent at least one letter from Moscow to London. wondering if she would like to marry him.

  • George S. Stuart inject his BIAS into Video!

[5:27] Queen Elizabeth I of England is no Virgin! I highly suggest that she be called, "Asexual Queen" See.... that sounds so much better.... doesn't it!? GAY Hollywood is going to make her LESBIAN anyhow with Jodie Foster.... haha!! >=P

[6:52] Protestant Christianity does not and would never equated Democracy! Ever heard of the Magna Carta, YOU Failed Historian? Is this the best Video on YouTube for Queen Elizabeth I of England!? =/

  • these bad baddies tsk tsk too bad the beautiful english ppl and their elegance couldn't just get along :) :)

  • I suggest that this man actually reads factual books on English history before talking absolute rubbish at times!!

  • There's no question that Mary of Scotland wanted Elizabeth dead so that Mary could claim the British throne for herself and the Roman Catholic Church. Really, all Mary had to do to save her life, and possibly ascend the throne, was keep her mouth shut and outlive Elizabeth.

  • No, I don't think so. I agree, that she didn't need to die and Elizabeth refused to sign to death warrant. Her parliment set up the whole thing to be rid of a possible rival to the throne of England. It was a terrible way to get rid of someone, but to Elizabeth's advisors it was a necessity..
