Xtreemos-MD provides to mobile devices (like smartphones and PDAs) the capability of sharing the files stored locally, which will be uploaded to the Grid file system (XtreemFS) just when requested by another user authorized in the XtreemOS Grid. This feature is what we call "on-demand file sharing".
In this demo you can see how a Nokia N800 user configures the resource sharing to share the pictures' folder and takes a new picture with the terminal, while another user with a Nokia N900 access to the shared folder to retrieve that photo file. While the data shared is being accessed and uploaded to the XtreemFS, the resource monitoring tool will show it with a different icon in the status bar.
