He role as Tomas More was nothing short of genius. He will always be remembered among the giants in the film industry and as a good and honorable human being. God Rest His Soul.

yes, he was indeed the finest actor to have portrayed Thomas More in fact he WAS thomas More and embodied someone of High Principle, and character that we all ought to aspire. This world would be a far better place if we all were like the character portrayed in this movie

I saw his King Lear in the 60s when RSC played the State Theatre at Lincoln Center.
He was amazing. Over 40 years later, I still remember his cry of anguish as he carried the dead Cordelia on stage (played by DIana Rigg.

@Ladyhawke1017 More was born in 1478 so actually 530! XD If More is who you were talking about, that is.

I saw Paul Scofield in Shakespeare's Love's Labours Lost and Coriolanus at Stratford, Ontario in 1961 and he was certainly one of the greats. I remember him standing on the stage balcony, with his back to the audience, intoning the line "There is a world elsewhere." at the end of the 3rd act of Coriolanus. I hope that there is, Mr. Scofield, and that it has a theatre.

hope no bad comments have been left about this human being..a talented actor who lived his own life...if you have achieved half as much you must be a star...no i thought not..silence then...

When you look this good at 475 years old, it's a shame not to brag about it :)

If I had not seen him Play Coriolanus--it is likely I wouldhave never have known who he was--he was a modest man did his stage work I guess mostly in the UK--so I would have maybe seen him in Man for All Seasons --and that's all
I am not generally enamored with acting/actors etc, but this man was the cream of the crop. Absolutely brilliant actor. R.I.P

Paul Scofield an actor his character role as Thomas More, seems to me, more or less true reflection of his real life character who lived within well define principles. Perhaps these glittering principles made him to refuse Knighthood (twice) or very character he portrait; he lost the meaning of title or honour? I am great admirer of Mr. P Scofield, Rest in Peace!
