Catalina Island spots Paul Allen's giant Octopus!

Since the weather report called for an early-November 92 degree heat wave, we packed up our classic Stephens boat and headed over to Avalon on Catalina Island. As we were motoring around in our dinghy, we spotted a giant private yacht - the largest we'd ever seen! We noticed the name "Octopus" and realized that it was billionaire Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen's giant 414 foot giant "Octopus." With a permanent crew of 60, 7 tenders including the main 63 foot tender, two helicopters with their own hangars and a ten man submarine, this giant $200 million Octopus is the mightiest on all of the seven seas!

We finished our dinghy tour and headed back to our humble boat and had cocktails as the sun slowly set on another
magnificent Avalon day!
