John Riley interviews author Chip Smith and researcher Juliet Ucelli on their new book, "The Cost of Privilege: Taking on the System of White Supremacy and Racism." They discuss the material, political and moral costs of the system of white supremacy in the US historically, up to the present day. Chip Smith & Juliet Ucelli examine how since the 1960s, consciousness of the existence of racism has declined, while actual disparities have grown larger and the need to fight racism and white privilege in order to reinvigorate the social justice movement and the struggle to build a just socialist system in the US.

@KumarZimmerman08 : I don't think it is funny at all. America was founded on genocide against Native Americans and slavery of Black people. All decent people should be able to see that both are wrong. There is a continuing legacy of racism to this day and that is what this 2-part video series is about. Racism is a tool that ruling elites use to divide white, black and brown workers so effective organizing can't happen. Anyone who thinks that the white race is superior biologically is a fool.

@KumarZimmerman08, I'm white and I complain about white privilege. It's why there is no social progress in this country. Small minded white people who have nothing going for them, not necessarily because they are ignorant, but mainly because of class privilege which they don't have, fall for the trick of white privilege. Small perks that they get for being white. The real problem is the 1%. Racism is wrong and it prevents the unity we need to stop the 1%.

Just staying alive. For centuries, or mils of yrs! Then Rome sprung, acquired the LONG BOW from Africa. Branched out with it! Came back, stole EGYPT! Made it WHITE.
