to explain my position on vegetarianism as I had promised some time ago. I used xtranormal again since it is quick and fun. I won't always use this method though.

Link: Peter S. Wenz: animal rights in social context, he also discusses vegetarianism as a compromise shortly. Overall, he makes several good points on how to move society in a differint direction

  • Each year animals are tortured and killed because you refuse to stop exploiting them. No matter your excuses, they are tortured and killed. You can't call yourself an animal rights activist yet participate in animal abuse and exploitation at the same time. If you can't even stop exploiting animals yourself, how do you think anyone around you will? The unique standard of decency for someone who cares about animals is veganism. There is no middle ground when it comes to animal exploitation.

  • "Some people won't ever stop exploiting animals"~~ Are you aware that you are part of this category and not part of the category that actually do something for animals? The only thing welfarism does is make people more comfortable about exploiting animals, thus results in more animal exploitation. More and more vegans go back to being non vegans because of welfare reforms and the "improved treatment" of animals. The animals are still slaughtered for no good reason. Welfare is counter-productive.

  • @thedefendingchamp Is there nothing wrong with slaughtering calves to steal their mother's milk? Is there nothing wrong with torturing and slaughtering animals for anything else than meat? Dairy cows are killed after less than 5 years, hens raised for egg production are killed after less than a year and the male chicks are ground alive right after birth. Meat = dairy = eggs, there is no difference in morality.

  • plus being a vegitarian is healthy for u , that can be your choice , not just because of the animals

  • i became vegeterian for health and weightloss / maintance reasons i really dont have a moral reason

  • That's cool. Be a vegetarian, as by doing so you are contributing to a reduction in cruelty, greenhouse emissions, deforestation and pollution whilst improving your health. Good on you.

Of course not everyone is going to abandon meat but if we can connect with people who will consider giving up animal products then that's a good thing and contributes to a better world.

  • I was vegetarian for decades before I went vegan.

    :D
