SANDWICH, Mass. -- A local man's workday routine was shaken up when a piece of wood flew through his windshield on Monday morning.
Brian Spellman, 41, was driving down Route 6 around 9:30 a.m. when a piece of wood fell off of a construction truck in front of him and went flying into his windshield.
"When it came in, it came in just to the point of the steering wheel, and then it must have snapped off," said Spellman.
He was not injured, but he was shocked by what happened and called 911.
"The biggest thing was just the explosion of glass," said Spellman.
The truck in front of him was owned by Emmanuel Construction Company. The driver, Hector Sanchez, said his employee had ties down the boards, but they had come loose.
Sanchez was cited for driving with an unsecured load.
"It's just an important lesson for contractors; make sure your stuff is strapped down," said Spellman.

$200 fine? Yeah that should cover a near death experience. Pass the peanuts.
