  • Neither design nor chance. Genes control camouflage, and where there is variation, the animals with better camouflage will survive and reproduce, and pass on their genes to their offspring, who will survive better, and so on. Camouflage changes through life too - often young animals in particular will have better camouflage than adults, e.g. lions, tapirs. Nature will do just enough to make a difference, no more. There are no invisible animals, no matter how much an advantage that would be.

  • This is the sort of questioning, rational and urbane human being that the Neo-Cons in America wished to quash and replace with prayer groups and money-mad M-Ds.
