During the cementation procedure, the operator can not notice that the cement is pushed into the sulcus (or the pocket if gum is not controlled well). If we use the microscope, one can easily detect the cement even in the healthy gum.
As I didn't see your crown actually, it may not be a proper advice, however, I think it will be impossible to eliminate the dark ring around your tooth unless you remove the whole crown.
Thanks for your comment. Ususally, the inner side of the crown is made of metal. And the metal margin of the crown fits to the tooth better than the porcelain margin. On the other hand, the metal margin creates the black color around the crown at the gum line. Our dental technician uses a gold metal, so that the color may not be so obvious.
