Choreographer Ira Weisburd is filmed here in June, 2007 demonstrating his popular Line Dance to the Classic Song "My Foolish Heart". Composed by Victor Young and Ned Washington, it was first introduced in the 1949 movie by the same name. It starred Susan Hayward and Dana Andrews. Although the movie did not get great reviews, the song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song and has since become a Jazz Standard and one of the most beautiful love songs. Here are the lyrics:

The night is like a lovely tune --
Beware my foolish heart!
How white the ever distant moon --
Take care, my foolish heart!
There's a line between love and fascination,
That's so hard to see on evenings such as this; For they both give the very same sensation. When you are lost in the magic of a kiss. Her lips are much too close to mine
Beware my foolish heart!
But should our eager lips combine,
Then let the fire start.
For this time it isn't fascination,
Or a dream that will fade and fall apart.
It's love this time, it's love, my foolish heart!

  • Hi Ira,

My name is Swan, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After I've viewed your video of the above named dance, I'm very much captivated by both the song and footwork and hope to teach it to my improver level students.

  • I so enjoy this dance and the music. I am just starting to learn line dancing at the age of 62 and your video gives me encouragement to stop falling over my big toes.. Thank you so much !!!

  • I just bought the Susan Hayward movie of this same name from lovingtheclassics. You can find the site pretty easily just by googling it.

  • @cristabele1959 It was originally written by the great US composer Victor Young and used in the film of the same name ""My Foolish Heart" starring Susan Hayward.

  • does anyone know who sang this song originally? Can someone post it on YouTube.. that would be fantastic. Thanks!

  • Oh, man... I was looking for variations of "My Foolish Heart" when I stumbled onto this video. You make this dance look SO easy (gal with 2 left feet here, lol)...

Perhaps some day, I'll get the hang of it.

  • The music he is using is by Ross Mitchell, CD: The Best of the Dansen Years Vol.2. You can download it from Amazon or iTunes.

There is also a nice version by Al Martino.
