@RobFight  What I see in this is that it demonstrates another aspect of the simplicity of the language.... a less rich vocabulary, same word used for different things and like you have shown, there are many such cases in the english language?

I know its a stretch but it true!... its like english personal pronouns..... quite simplified (less of them).

however, I must point out that some of those are not unique to the english language.... such as invalid for the invalid, for example.

@fakiir I agree with your view on why english dominates... I disagree in your assessment that english is one of the most complex languages... Its almost too easy to learn if you ask me... you don't learn it, you catch english because its all around, and too few anglos a bi- or pluri-lingual... Honnestly, if you would know one thing about Africa, is that it's roaming full of chineese, so I bet I could learn chineese if i'd be living in Africa...

@OBSysteme English is actually one of the more complex languages. the only reason its the most widely used language is because it was the language of the British empire, who colonized some of the largest current nations in the world. and the US still controls the global economy, but China is creeping into relevance. so if your a young person in a 3rd world country looking to improve yourself, you can learn English, or you can learn Chinese... good luck finding a Chinese teacher in Nigeria. lol
