@Hawk6DM The serial number also says it is a 180K. Which would put into the group that were sent from the factory with the large dorsal. The K and H models had those.
-
@akroguy Actually, The last few years of production, the 180 had the same dorsal as the 185. Also, there is a Kenmore Air mod to add the 185 dorsal to the 180 as a part of a gross weight increase mod.

@mamajedi074 According to the FAA reg. that is a 1978 model. Cessna Offered as an option in 1975 on the C180J to the end of production an upgrade to the 185 ventrical for the factory float kits

It appears that Cessna offered an option to the 185 vertical with the float plane kit on the 1975 180J thru the end of production....

@akroguy the year dosent matter to me, nice airplane nice landing, many thanks for the video. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.

@akroguy There is a Kenmore mod that places a 185 tail on a 180. Could be that this airplane has been modified in the past
This isn't a 180, it's a 185 Skywagon

@mamajedi074 I agree with you, it looks like a 185 to me also, however FAA says it's a 180. Julie : )

Allrighty then! Fair enough. The FAA registry shows my airplane as a model year 1956, but the serial number was assigned to model year 1957 and the panel layout is in accordance with the POH for the '57 model year. So...if anyone asks, I just say "it's OLD!" Ah, the joys of dealing with the FAA. Have a great day. :)

@akroguy I understand where you're coming from, we have a 1958 beechcraft that the FAA has listed as a 1985 Beech

I believe that's a 185, judging by the size of the dorsal. I know my 180 doesn't have that much "tail"! Nicely done.

@akroguy Thanks, I got the information from the FAA website with the "N" number. FAA says it is a 180K model. Julie : )
