The Clovers made the original version of this record not the Coasters. This version is nice, but nothing compares to The Clovers original. The song was originally written for the Coasters but at that time they did not like the song when it was brought to them by mega hit songwriters Lieber and Stoller, so The Clovers recorded it and made a smash hit!! It was many years later that the Coasters finally decided to record this song seeing the success that The Clovers had from recording this song. T

@dragonflyshards Hey i'm setting it straight BEFORE i get angry feedback or bum someone out...The Clovers' version is GREAT!..Just not AS great. The Searchers' version IS soul-less mimicry,but NOT crap.That was too harsh! If i'd known theirs' & never heard these 2 others i'd think it pretty good. (...And- there are worse versions to be found on this here youtube.)

@circusitch Probably because it's from 1971 (around)& not the first version(though it may have been written for the Coasters)I think it is THEIR first version,though -and in my opinion the very best version.The Clovers' version is a little lack-lustre after hearing this...The Searchers' version is soul-less crap...Mimicry,like everything else i've heard from them.(Not because they're"white",as all the soul-less crap that most "black"performers are churning out will attest to.)

I never heard this version before I know the Clovers original and the Searchers but never heard it by the Coasters It's not bad and different in fact it sounds like they put more into to it than most Coaster records thanks for the posting I love to hear an old record new to me
