Project Nim Official Trailer 2011 HD
More info: http://trailers.apple.com
Genre: Documentary
Official Site: http://www.roadsideattractions.com
Director: James Marsh
Run Time: 93 minutes
In theaters: July 8th, 2011
Synopsis: From the Oscar-winning team behind MAN ON WIRE comes the story of Nim, the chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of a landmark experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. Following Nim's extraordinary journey through human society, and the enduring impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, the film is an unflinching and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human. What we learn about his true nature - and indeed our own - is comic, revealing and profoundly unsettling.

This is fucking disgusting. From the time he was taken from his mother, he had never known another chimpanzee. He had lived with humans, worn human clothing, and eaten human food. Yet Terrace sent him back to the primate research center in Oklahoma.

Exactly. They humanized him, and then dehumanized him and striped him from everything he knew. Absolutely disturbing to what Nim had to go through.

When are people going to realize that non human primates are non human primates. I lived with and studied mountain gorillas in 1974 at Karisoke Research Center with Dian Fossey. I was never harmed yet the potential to harm for something like a chimpanzee and gorillas is great. When the attack or fight each other then they are fighting with someone who has potentially the same strength. With humans we don't have much of a chance.

I experienced Herbert Terrace as a very unsensitive man with no caring for Nim at all.

As if he was dealing with a thing that has no feelings.

    Incedible ugly behaviour.

Herbert was more busy with feeding his penis by gathering those hippy dummies around him.

    This project was VERY unprofessional.

Yep they totally fucked him up.

And he died at 26.Isn't it that chimps normally live up to the age of 50?

He was messed up and messed around throughout almost his whole life.

It was a perfect display of uncaring human interaction.

Yes,the real study was in the way human beings treat the chimpansee.

Terrace was quite a chimpansee himself with his selection of females around him. What a joke, this whole project.

Unprofessional as cen be.And totally uncaring for Nim's situation.Nim still has feelings 'despite'(?) of being an 'animal' .

The typical Humans 'sind übermenschen' and All other life forms can be treated at will. Many humans have hardly rights in this world, let alone chimps etc.

    Totally awful.

I don't think dogs and cats have anywhere else to go other than live with humans.
