  • All this talk about racism/lack of "racial justic" is bullcrap. Theres Asians attending the same schools, have the same teachers as Black and Hispanic students yet Asian students are just as succesful as/even better than White ones are. Of course is the educational system a mess. But its obviously not to blame for students of different races/cultures being considerably less succesful as a group/on average than others.Theres obviously other reasons for those differences noone would dare to adress

  • Michelle Rhee claims that she took 90% of her students from the 13th percentile to the 90th percentile or above in less than 2 years!

Isn’t that statistically impossible? “Normal Distribution”? “Bell Curve”?

Why hasn’t anyone interviewed her former students? Or their parents? Or her former principal? Or her former co-workers? Her fellow teachers?

I’m sure they all will have plenty to say about those scores!

Where's the proof of her academic success?

  • you do know there`s an attempt to "dumb down" all children around the globe, don`t yo`ll??

  • let the blacks ruin their own young ones...i'm sure ms. rhee has realized the cultural differences, and that's what make them who they are....

  • She's dead on! Teacher and administrators have been cruising for too long. They need a bit of fire up their asses.

Go Ms. Rhee! You're doing a great job.

  • I also felt the scores were a bit skewed. I didn't even want to begin to touch on the deliberate manipulation of data that takes place in individual schools.

I do think Rhee and Fenty's hearts are in the right place, and I am impressed, awed, and inspired by their determination to fix such an ailing school system. I just think Rhee's method is all wrong.

The same unwavering support from her superior (Fenty) that allows her to get work done is the same support teachers need.

  • I never believe it when scores suddenly rise. At the last school where I worked, the grades were inflated to ridiculous levels. How could the scores in science/math be so high, when the absentee rate was at least 25%?

Michelle Rhee is like Joe Clark. She makes short-term changes by shutting down schools and throwing kids out.

  • Of course scores in schools have doubled, increased, etc...They closed half the schools in DC! Stuffing those students into other schools would alter the data. Great manipulation of fact. The schools still suck, AND have fewer teachers.

A disdain for teachers is the most ineffective, counterproductive quality to have when trying to improve education.

  • Ms. Rhee ROCK....I THINK THIS IS PRETTY MUCH THE LAST CHANCE THEY HAVE FOR DC.... IF MS. RHEE CAN'T CHANGE DC AT THIS TIME... DC FUTURE IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME...KILLING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD...
