http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/re... The RE'VIT! Sand 2 has been revealed with a release date of Spring 2013 with some impressive improvements over the original Sand jacket. In addition to a more streamlined look, some new modular components can now be incorporated into the Sand 2. The new Sand 2 jacket can be combined with a Leatt® or MOVEO® neck brace with the addition of a connection kit for seamless integration. The Sand 2 can be combined with the new Hi-Viz Connector Vest that will increase visibility when you want it, and easily stows when not needed. For hot weather riding, the Sand 2 is also compatible with the REV'IT! Challenger Cooling Vest that can be zipped inside the jacket to provide 6 to 10 hours of evaporative cooling. The Sand 2 will offer better venting with 2 new vent configurations at the chest and arms. The new arm vent has been extended all the way up to the bicep and the new chest vent is longer and includes a snap back to increase airflow over the body a purported 200%. The 2013 REV'IT! collection will all use a new back protector line called Seesoft that offers CE Level 2 protection for an affordable price. Keeping true to the Sand collection theme, the Sand 2 will have 2 separately removable thermal and waterproof membranes, have ProLife armor in the shoulders and elbows, have 360° reflective from 3M Scotchlite and lastly, long and short connection zippers to attach to the Sand 2 pants. The Sand 2 will have 5 color options, including new offerings in Orange and Blue and will come in sizes S-4XL.

I tried on a Large and a 2XL (No XL in stock at the place I went to). Going by the chest size I should be a L but I'm 6,3 with wide shoulders and a small and long midsection. The Large might work with no liners but with both liners in I felt its just way too tight in the armpits.

REV'IT! is tough for taller guys, I would recommend trying something comparable by Dainese as they tend to run long in the sleeves and snug in the chest. -CK

No idea how you guys fit Buzzsaw in that size L. I'm 5.11, 195 lbs and definitely needed an XL. The jacket itself is a quality piece though, performed great so far in cold temperatures.

It really depends on where you carry your weight and how much flexibility is needed inside the jacket. This jacket definitely meets the needs of wide temperature range! -CK

Loved the Sand.... even crashed in it :) no scratch on my body and it was a 80kmph crash in Romania... I'm definitely buying the Sand 2... only thing I see right now that bugs me is the omission of the hook-and-loop on the collar :(

Well I'm similar in built, no guts tho:) As long as you don't do layering just a t-shirt n go I guess the L would fit a 200lbs+ person. With multiple layers , had to go XL.

The back protector does not cover the entire back, but I haven't really seen any inserts that cover the whole back. If you are looking for maximum coverage, you might want to consider a separately wearable protector like the Dainese Paraschiena Wave w/ scapula protection. If you want to check out sizes and shapes of the new REV'IT! Seesoft protectors, we list dimensions on our product page. ~Ali

Very nice review, but I didnt understand 1 thing - how long is the new back CE2 back protector? Does it cover the whole back, or only part of it like on any other jacket? Trying to find better/same alternatives for BMW Rallye 3 jacket

Ed is wearing a size large, but doesn't have much room for layering underneath. In the 2011 REV'IT! Collections, Ed would have definitely needed the XL. For 2012 and now in 2013, REV'IT! sizing is much more generous and we have yet to see the updated size charts for each item. I would suggest giving our Gear Geeks a call. The Sand 2 jackets are now in stock, and you could even get Ed to help you with sizing. ~Ali
