  • never ever use black hemp on a chanter stalk only on the mouthpiece

use plain yellow hemp on the drone tuning slides but wax the first meter or so with black sticky wax to make them stick to the mount. finished with plain old candle wax to make them hold in place and slide easily when tuning. the bottom bases the same with the black wax at the start with plain yellow hemp but dont wax with the plain old candle wax as this will cause it 2 slide out with tuning the stalks above. i am only 14

    :-)

  • @toxiv5 It's not (just) in D Ionian. It's also A mixolydian and B Aolian. And a little bit "off" from each. The pipes were originally a pentatonic instrument, in G (gabdeG), A (abcefA), and D(abdefA) (well, defAB, but there's no high B). Use with tuners: Note: Cents from low A: Closest Equal tempered note: Cents from Equal Tempered. g: -203.9 g -3.9 a: 0.0 a 0.0 b: 203.9 b +3.9 c: 386.3 c# -13.7 d: 498.0 d -2.0 e: 702.0 e +2.0 f: 884.4 f# -15.6 G: 996.1 G -3.9 A: 1200.0 A 0.0
  • As well, having tape on all of those notes is redundant. If you tune low A to 475, most of the taped notes would be in tune and you are left with minimal other notes to tape.

  • Seriously?

It's not almost Bb, its past it. Bb is 466Hz, thats 475.

Also, its not in the key of A#!!!????

Its is in the key of D because F and C are sharp. They key of A# has 2 flats (Bb and Eb) If your trying to say that the low A is not a concert A you would be correct, but at 475, it is a concert nothing. Concert Bb, or 466 is the nearest note.

Btw, never use elastic bands on reeds, it just ruins them.

  • @mostafajnoub

no, never, not for the Highland pipes anyway.

  • @berndpfe

I think you mean Concert B flat...

and we don't use H for music in the English speaking world as far as I know.

and the multiplication stuff you're talking about is called Equal Temperament.

  • Sir, I have learned so much from your Youtube videos tonight. Let's communicate.

  • DNT PUT THE RUBBER BAND ON TO ANYONE WHO IS STARTING PIPING ....

MY PIPE BAND SAYING IS IF U DNT VALUE UR REED U DNT VALUE UR LIFE SO DNT ON A BAGPIPE REED FOR GOOD SAKES

unless its a practise chanter reed then fine

  • @mostafajnoub No! you ruin the reed completely if you do that

  • should i put the reed in water before i play?
