In this episode we follow Maxine, a ragged tooth shark with an extraordinary true-life story. She escaped death twice, first in shark nets and then being caught by fishermen, before arriving at the Two Oceans Aquarium in 1995 where she stayed for nine years. She was then released back into the wild in March 2004. Maxine is the inspiration behind a shark conservation project based at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town, South Africa (http://www.aoca.org.za/maxine_ed.htm). Our next podcast episode will take a look at the beautiful and majestic giant manta rays found off the coast of Mexico.
