  • The rope looks to short to me...

  • @owain1916 - You can climb Mt. Blanc with little experience but you just have to respect the mountain and do proper preparations before climbing it.

Despite the traffic I would still recommend climbing Mt. Blanc - she is a fun and really a great climb! Just go there early or late season and the traffic is not bad at all! You could also consider climbing Elbrus - just be prepared for the cold, but its all worth it when you stand on the summit and see the breathtaking view of the Caucasus!

  • @Kampf0r There a quite a few people who comment on mont blanc videos asking about climbing MB without a guide and having little mountaineering experience. I can only imagine the amount of people who go to the Alps and do it. I am starting to be put off the idea of MB or the Matterhorn I have heard so many stories that is is too busy. It doesn't sound much like an adventure when your in a que over 3000 meters up.

  • @owain1916 My crew and I ran to a hut with telephone line Base Camp Mt. Blanc only to see that someone already called for assistance. The helicopter arrived shortly after, but the weather was to bad for the mountain response team to salvage the dead bodies. The Lithuanians were salvaged two days later.

  • @owain1916 It would, but with all that traffic on the Gouter Route, I doubt it would be a solution for the future. In the high season, Mt. Blanc is packed with climbers and it would take too much time in my oppinion to get a crew of climbers across.

  • @Kampf0r If they made it a flying fox it would solve that problem. What did you do after you seen that happen?

  • @owain1916 And the reason why its so dangerous is because there are regularly rock slides on that crossing - Two years ago I saw three Lithuanian climbers caught in a rock slide on that crossing. All swept away and fell 300 m down. All killed in the slide. That crossing is no joke, but too many people doesn´t take that crossing serious.

  • @Kampf0r I see, thanks.

  • @owain1916 I certainly - The Grand Coloir is the most dangerous crossing on the Gouter Route - the regular route to the top. First of all his rope is too short - he has no slack at all which means if he trips, he will be hanging without any contact with the mountain and therefore he will not be able to climb back up. Second of all, he is not attached to to his friends in a rope, so if he suddenly trips his friends cant reel him back in.

  • @Kampf0r Can you explain why he is doing it wrong?
