  • The demonstration is nice, but if we're supposed to learn to do a salchow from this, it would be nice to have an explanation of exactly what one does, and show it in slow motion...

  • StormValleyStables: Same here - I can do way more advanced jumps, but something is horribly wrong with my salchow. xD

  • When I decide to learn a new jump or footwork I always google or YouTube it first these don't always help me, sometimes do, but they make me much more confident

  • @FizzyJones Maybe you are swinging the freeleg too wide, it happens to me cause my right leg is longer than the left and on top of that i have open hips, so i have trouble with all left edge jumps, including axel... well actually those are the only ones hahaha! But my Loop, Flip, and Lutz are HUGE, fast, and very solid. My toe loop is like... too easy or something, being an open-hip jump. Maybe that's my problem with sal too.. i can do a very clean toeloop its just nothing impressive

  • from where I come from we call it a salco*

  • Wait what..? How are we supposed to understand the video?

Can anyone describe clearly what we're supposed to do?

  • @XKatherinePrestonX i agree that it doesn't help much, but all you have to do is goo into it with a 3 turn so that your on a backwards inside edge, then check, otherwise you will swing and not properly jump, and pull your right leg (if your rotate anti-clockwise like most skaters) infront of your left as you take off...not sure if that was any help to you

  • @FizzyJones same, its funny how ive been doing my salchow for probably 6 years and my loop and flip and lutz for about a year but i can do all 3 of them better than my salchow, all of a sudden i just cant do it anymore :/

  • gosh, that's so helpful. I can totally do it now. That girl was on the other side of the rink whne she demonstrated, and i could see perfectly.

  • you have to do a forward three turn and check out then do your jump...

  • i know how to do a salchow but she did it way too fast.

  • This doesn't really help me because I am having trouble getting from the turn into the jump...
