Sweet idea if you do not want to have any control of your kite or boat, what happens when you dump and your kayak sails off. Don`t tie things to your kayak... it`s very dangerous. Try using a 2 line kite like this guy is using or better yet a depowerable kite that you can control.

Dude! Get a strong hiking "clip" for the bow rope. Run your kite line thru it. After you paddle out against the wind as far as you want, turn around and launch the kite by hand with the line already thru the bow clip. When the kite is high enough off the water, let the line go. It will dip for just a second until the air lifts it. The tension off the front of the kayak will pull you straight with the wind behind you. THEN you will really be moving. I call this Para-Yaking. ENJOY

We started out with a single-line kite like this, and then moved to 2-line and 4-line kites. I notice you said "no steering". You should get a rudder installed, then you can steer with your feet and fly two-liners!!
