紐西蘭自1904年引進奇異果,起初是無心插柳,但由於適宜的天候與水土條件,加上奇異果受人喜愛的獨特風味,很快地許多果農紛紛開始栽種奇異果。1988年為整合原有各­自出口的產業組織,紐西蘭政府協助成立「紐西蘭奇異果行銷局」(New Zealand Kiwifruit Marketing Board),集中並整合果農資源形成單一出口的行銷模式,加強從選育品種、果園生產、包裝、冷藏、運輸、配售及廣告促銷等環節的配合,使得紐西蘭奇異果成為全球奇異果市­場的領導品牌。

1997年,為延續消費者對紐西蘭奇異果的印象,更鮮明地表達紐西蘭奇異果健康活力、營養美味、以及充滿能量與樂趣的特質,推出「ZESPRI™」作為品牌名稱, ZESPRI INTERNATIONAL LIMITED紐西蘭奇異果國際行銷公司負責紐西蘭奇異果全球的行銷,為全世界最大的奇異果行銷公司。如今ZESPRI™紐西蘭奇異果行銷全世界七十多個國家,每年生產近­八千萬箱的奇異果,占全世界總產量的百分之二十,廣受世界各地消費者的喜愛。
