  • thanks very much Mick

  • Yeah my teacher tries to teach me this crap and it never works on me. The recipient has become hyper sensitive from the prepping, i.e. "your pressure points are here and hitting you here with cause a KO", then they hit a sensitive spot when all your attention is on that spot and blammo.

  • well I have knocked out plenty with full power to pressure points in real fights.....so much for it being crap?

  • Emphasis on the words "full power" there. You hit someone full power it's a whole different game. And are these street fights, kickboxing/mma bouts, or sparring matches?

  • this was only meant to be a demo of the potential of pressure points, so you can just imagine what a full power strike would do......the problem is when people put it across on line/youtube

as the magic silver bullet....which it isn't

  • I see, I see. My theory on these points is that they don't necessarily knock you out. If you notice, most pressure points are found directly on top of or near major veins/arteries, or connective tissue. I think they invoke a state of panic(which you can pass out from), your body reacts as though it had been cut or something. The effect is doubled by passive people who already 'know' what's going to happen to them. Hardy people rarely, if ever, fall to these types of attacks.

  • people do get knocked out with just a punch on the jaw.....are there some pressure points being hit there as well? answer- very possible, considering there are so many on the face, i do take your point about the compliant student making it easier for the instructor as well though...it is a factor..... But sometimes people can take punches more than others....there are a lot of variables. I have knocked people out cold with side kick to solar plexus......now there's a big pressure point!

  • the only way this works is by temporally blocking the bloodflow thru the artery in the neck that carries blood to the brain... a sudden strike collapses the artery momentarly allowing for what appears to be a knockout when all it is, is a stun move that allows people to grab the upper hand in a fight. in a real life situation this move is very hard to pull off since it requires great accuracy and being very close yet able to produce alot of power.

    You're Already Dead. *head explosion*

  • that wasn't a light touch....

  • Anybody that thinks pressure point knockouts arent real, just hasnt been hit right. The only time I've ever been KO'd was from a knee to the outer mid-thigh.Funny thing was it didnt really hit me till a second later.I was still lucid, but in total visual blackout and excruciating pain, helpless on the ground.I even puked.Im glad we were just sparring or it would have meant my ass.

  • @nuckinfuts32330 NOT in a "sanctioned match", but in a real world, potentially lethal encounter where your adversary is trying to seriously injure or kill YOU.

No Gi's, no mats, no referees. But in a real encounter where an angered agressor is trying to shove a broken bottle in to YOUR belly.

When you can answer that question, you'll KNOW whether such techniques (or similar ones) actually work in "real life".

Some here already know the answer.

  • Hmmm, just wondering from all this blathering how many responding here have actually been in real "street fight" scenarios, real take-downs of criminals (violent or non-violant but resistant), etc.? NOT demos or competitions.

It would appear that for the vast majority of respondents here, the answer to that question is "zero", or "near zero".

It would also appear that the respondents have NO idea what's happening in the video or what a pressure / attack point actually IS.

  • not works for real fighting
