This is a 2002 bmw convertible m2
I was wondering where the heating strips were located when I turned on the heated seats. Oddly enough most of the heat is in leg portion of the seat. And only 2 strips in the back. Most interesting during this test is when I found that I had heated mirrors and they were ALWAYS on. What a waste of power. Bmw could have connected the heated mirror with another cold weather feature but nope. Always on! Real handy in Florida.
I'm pretty sure the majority of heat you see is because of the heater wires being under less material in the leg portion of the seat. I used to install heated seats and pulled a few factory Beamers apart to install new after old ones burned out. You just got more cushion on the bottom and back.

I love my 328i. Only mod is a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. They run around $170 and add up to 9HP in the E46 323/325/328 and up to 13.9HP in the 330. That's about $17/per extra HP... A good value for the extra oomph. General HP increases are shown:
E30 series: 6.0-13.4hp gain
E36 series: 5.5-12hp gain
E46 series: 6.0-13.9hp gain
E92 series: 8.5+ hp gain
Z3/Z4 (all): 5.5-13.9hp gain
