WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP COLLOQUIUM: CULTURAL AND GENERATIONAL DIFFERENCES STRUGGLES IN EDUCATION
The Women's Leadership Colloquium seeks to inspire leaders to become more consciously aware of their potential in taking leadership roles in educational settings.

The concept for the Women's Leadership Colloquium was inspired by a question posed by Daysi Manzano, president of the Women in Aviation Student Chapter of York College, at the recent Fifth Annual CUNY Women's Leadership Conference held at Hunter College. This year, President Keizs was the conference chairperson and the theme was "Civic Engagement: Leadership through Service."

President Keizs was particularly intrigued by a question Daysi asked and felt that new areas of concern and interest developed as a result of the dialogue exchanged. The Women's Leadership Colloquium at York College has been developed to continue that discussion with an emphasis on the theme of Struggles in Education.

Colloquium discourse will explore how women leaders define perspectives and values while effectively inculcating diversity, leadership, service, spirituality and wellness into work and life. Participants will gain knowledge and have discussions that will help with self-discovery, define potential action plans for the future and inspire service to local and global communities as this relates to struggles in higher education.

The goals and objectives are as follows:

Goal: The Women's Leadership Colloquium seeks to inspire leaders to become more consciously aware of their potential in taking the LEAD through education. Colloquium discussions will explore how women leaders define perspectives of diversity, leadership, service, spirituality and wellness while incorporating these values into work and life. By drawing on the rich experiences and reflections expressed by the keynote speaker, panelists and student participants, the colloquium will concentrate on women's leadership skill-building as this relates to education.

Objective 1: Participants will gain knowledge and engage in discourse that will assist in discovering strategies for taking action and serving others regarding struggles in education.
Objective 2: Participants will gain knowledge and will engage in discourse and discussion that will assist in developing strategies for improving higher education for women in local and global communities.
Objective 3: Participants will analyze conflict and change that have created transformative communication, resolution strategies and building of collaborative teams.
