INDIGO YOUTH BOOKFAIR 2008

Indigo Youth Book Fair 2008 is a newly created book fair. The aim and plans of the book fair are surprisingly different and it is quite unique in its concept and format. The book fair is not focusing on selling books or commercial business but rather concentrating on building a "human" network among creative activists from all around the world who are constantly struggling to make a difference along with supporting humanistic values. Indigo Global Humanities Project Group traveled around the world for more than a year. In all of these places we discovered people who are drawing a new humanistic map, one that is flourishing and thriving. The people we met along the journey were creating an original image of future possibilities and envisaging new hope for this world. This experience of encountering genuine human beings was as a way of finding the evidence of hope. The embodiment of the humanism beyond the certain era means maintaining one's identity and building the structure of values without being buried in shallowness of capitalism(pariah capitalism, Max Weber). There are values that the young people of this time should learn and try to internalize as their own beliefs: righteous faith, truthful conscience, sense of responsibility toward minorities, hope for new possibilities, and endeavor to establish the essential values. These acts of faiths can be achieved through reading books and communicating contemporary intellectuals. We now want to be a subject of this creation of hope. Through this project we hope that the more of young people in this world could earn fair and equal opportunities for the future beyond any difficulties and sufferings: famine, poverty, violence, inequality and war. And we wish that these values will blossom into a beautiful flower in everyone's life. A process of exploring these values will be the way of stepping into a better world. We believe that building a groundwork of solidarity is the only way of solving the worldwide problems we are facing now.
