Awesome, using the comic book to fill in the missing scenes. I have that comic book. :D I re-read it over and over, and now it's all in pieces. Well, one piece, but held together by tape. *sigh*
Much of the trouble centered around Ford's suggestions to changing dialogue to be more in line with his character and Carrie's absence from any of the decision making until she arrived on set to do her bit. Read the Alan Arnold's book. It's a great read.
Agreed. Suggesting was better than showing. Now that I see how much trouble Lucas originally went to with the monster, though, I get why he was so eager to finally include it, even if it was the wrong thing for the movie.
