@iaingbrennan You only need heavier strings if you're playing with a bottleneck slide. Lighter strings (at least on the 5,4 and perhaps 3 string) would be better with this kind of playing.

@iVideosongs The next time I have $3000 burning a hole in my pocket, I'll do just that.

My guitar sounds so bad... Id like to admire its sound like this one, but it is so grave and buzzling, sounds so weird

Looks like a 914 possibly. I have an 814 which is absolutely magic to play but the 914 is another step up.

Thanks for your reply, only thing about cranking your strings up to Open E, so damn tight, you really need heavier strings?plus that in long term could damage a more inferior make of guitar?, or am I just being paranoid!? comments?...

@iaingbrennan Others are welcome to weigh in. I've personally played 22 years, have owned about 10 guitars over the years and never damaged one due to tuning. In terms of strings, again, no real difference but I vary brands by guitar type, like Martins on acoustic, like d'Addario on electrics....

Wow! How wrong can you be! Thanks for enlightening me, funnily enough, am in process of buying a Taylor 12-String at the moment, great sound, quality guitar.

@iaingbrennan You will enjoy it, you'll play more. I personally had another brand for my acoustic, and find that I play an acoustic more often now that I have a Taylor...

Harding 42, I think Mr. Schumann is playing either, a Gibson, or an Epiphone, judging by the Fret Inlays, doesn't it look weird when his arms move, the guitar stays stationary? ( must be on some kind of 'stand'?

@iaingbrennan It is a Taylor accoustic. Great sounding guitars, check em out next time you're at a shop.
