Christine Petric
He told me that his parents didn't approve of me because of how I looked.

Born in South Korea, adopted at a young age, and growing up in a predominately white suburban environment, Christine Petric was constantly reminded that she was different. The one place where these differences didn't seem to matter was when she excelled on the soccer field. At those moments she was the "successful soccer chick" and could forget any awkward discrimination.

An injury early in her freshman soccer season derailed big athletic plans, and her extra time ushered in a quickly developing dating relationship. Soon she was living only for herself, and "being pretty selfish about it." It took a devastating revelation from her boyfriend that further rocked her self-esteem before she was ready to see that her true identity was found in Christ's love for her.

  • she's beautiful. it's crazy how racial prejudice can scar self-image

  • Shame on her ex boyfriend and his family to allow hate in their heart for something so ridiculous.

  • For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • I can definitely relate to her and racism. I was adopted and I am white, but I grew up in Hawaii, which is predominantly Asian/Hawaiian. I was ostracized and teased for the color of my skin for 6 years. I move to Colorado, after I graduated, I started dating an Asian, got pregnant, his parents were hoping for him to marry another Asian and were kind of bummed that I am white. But now they are really supportive of our marriage and our son. God led me to my man. I am second!!

  • She is sooo beautiful! like seriously

  • I can relate to her, though not due to the fact that my skin is a different color. I am mildly autistic and sometimes I wonder why God made me the way he did. He has finally led me to understand that I am second in my own life. God made me this way for a reason and that was so that God's power and acceptance of everyone could be shown through my life!

  • @standupsayyeah No, She realized that no matter what others think of her He loves her. She realized that God made her beautiful and she shouldn't blame God for how she looks. Self esteem issues can effect your relationship with God and give you hate. She realized she was living for her self and she should be living for Him.

  • ask Christ to reveal HIMSELF to you with a heart that is truly seeking to hear Him and He will speak to you and speak LIFE into you. This is something personal ... Sin affects us all in different ways especially if we are not raised knowing the TRUE God. But He uses all things for His good purpose and in this girls case THE DIFFERENCE she felt growing up with helped her to accept HIS GRACE

  • You're beautiful, both inside and out.

  • OMG You're so beautiful
