Most goose hunting is done over decoys 20 to 40 yards max. Not a whole lot of long range pass shooting...you do not have to do it.

Yes, banding takes place in all of scandinavian countries for geese, as well as Russia. Greenland and Iceland do limited banding for seabirds and waterfowl.
