  • The song is based on an old Norwegian fairy tale; Little Frikk (Veslefrikk).

A young boy (Frikk) has got a magic fiddle from a giant, and when he plays on it,

everyone has to dance (similar to ‘The Red Shoes’ by H.C. Andersen).

The lyrics are based on the last part of the tale when Little Frikk is sentence to death and shall be hanged.

He asks for a last wish (which is granted): I want to play a tune on my fiddle.

  • This is a very good and nice song. I don't understand the words because I don't speak Norwegian (but Dutch and English). I hope somebody from Norway wants to write the translation in English here on You Tube. That will be nice!
