I see both sides of the issue here... How it could be considered an assault on free speech, but at the same time all the Fairnesss Doctrine requires is "he holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was (in the Commission's view) honest, equitable and balanced."
Granted the kicker is "in the Commission's view" ... And perhaps people should be allowed to lie through their teeth on controversial topics... Tough issue.
