Could I please buy this, or could you direct me to some place to buy this?

I can't imagine enjoying that and not wanting to touch it!! I'm sure at some point someone has tried to touch it. Hopefully it's robust.

Would be great to see what it would look like projected through smoke/fog in the room.

It's does get touched a lot! but what you can't see is me touching to controls to effect the shapes, and also theres a giant speaker just behind the StringRay playing the same music as is dubbed later, so the wind from the speaks is having an effect too.

This is easy to acheive with a few friends and a huge bong.
I've a long history in video projections, occasionanly using banks of video projectors as effects lights at events using computor visuals tailored to to create pretty animated beams and shapes, So I like your thinking.

Yes! with near infinate patterns it would be so nice to see more vids.
I do move the arms and head angles to get effects often, but I do like the string at those settings, you get gracefull ever changing rolling waves that are perfect for effecting with blowing air from a large speaker whic behind the unit which you cant see. Allthough I dubbed the music on the vid after for clarity, the same tune is belting out and creating its own effects on the string.
Peace
