A brief Introduction to my book "Scary Diagnosis - How I Took Charge Of My Health and Life And How You Can Take Charge of Yours"

Scary Diagnosis" is a book and handbook about what you should and shouldn't do before and after hearing a Scary Diagnosis from your Doctor. It is written to give perspective to not only the "patient" but also to loved ones and friends. The author's wife has survived 2 bouts of cancer and the author is dealing with his own Scary Diagnosis daily (MS - Multiple Sclerosis). Regardless of your symptoms or diagnosis, this book can help you and those around you. It is a particularly important read for anyone dealing with any of the autoimmune diseases, cancer, heart or circulation issues as well as autism, Lyme disease or unidentified long term symptoms.

  • Taking AVONEX for MS has to be scary. According to Biogen's own 15 yr study of long-term AVONEX users, approximately 11% died and another 29% did not respond to the voluntary questionaire.

There is a more efficacious & safer drug for MS than any of the interferons or glatiramer acetate. Perhaps one day you'll be lucky enough to take it.

Good luck with your choice of therapy.

  • I opted to take LDN, do chelation, take high dose Vit D/B12 & adjust diet & lifestyle over conventional MS Drugs like Avonex.

I have been attack free for 5 years - my health has actually improved significantly over the last 3.

I strongly urge anyone with any auto-immune issue, cancer, or heart issues to research and understand their options including chelation therapy and the use of LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone). Chapter 9 in my book covers it and also there are some excellent links on my website.

  • thanks alan for your book , and talking about low dose naltrexone and other things one can do to get and stay better , I have been learning about ldn since july 2009 and I am amazed at how powerful the immune system is when it is doing what it should do !!! Iam so sick or all the nay sayers when it comes to ldn , its to bad that some doctors and drug companys see dollar signs instread of people when they become ill with whatever !!!! but Iam also thankful for the doctors that really do care !!!

  • I have been working within the treatment of MS for 8 years. I have daily interaction with MS patients. Patients do better when treated with a platform therapy such as Avonex. Disability progression is reduced dramatically over time with the use of weekly interferon. There is no good data or approved studies to prove alternative medicine to delay onset or progression of disability in MS.
