Into the Shadows is a feature length documentary film that journeys behind the big screen to discover the past, present and future of Australian cinema.
From afar, the Australian film industry appears glitzy and glamorous, almost untouchable. Into the Shadows challenges this notion and journeys behind the big screen to meet the filmmakers, distributors and exhibitors who bring Australian films to life.
Away from the bright lights and photographers, an awful truth is discovered: Australian cinema is becoming irrelevant.
The cinema was once a place where Australian culture permeated; audiences were educated, entertained and enthralled about Australian history, characters and landscapes. Alarmingly, out of the $895.4 million spent at the Australian Box Office in 2007, only $36million (4%) was spent on Australian films.
Amongst the story of decline are the seedlings for hope. Into the Shadows is the film to bring all of the complex dimensions of Australian cinema together and ask how do we want Australian cinema to evolve?

$75 is ONLY the price for use in Secondary Schools, community groups etc and is based on the licensing agreement Ronin Films has with the makers of the film. The correct price for private home use is $34.95 (that includes postage and handling), you need to make sure that the settings (found in the top right corner of the ronin web page) are set to private individual and you should be right from there.
Hope this helps - it is a great film.
