Kean Wong:
And in today's continuing Chinese earthquake coverage we bring you the story of parents who lost children to the disaster. Moms and dads in the town of Wufu say local officials are to blame for more than 130 kids that died last Monday... they say the school the kids were in was built sub-standard.

Nearly every building in the tiny rural town of Wufu withstood the earthquake that shook China -- except the New Number Two Primary School.

Today the parents of the dead held a memorial for the children, holding their pictures and crying silently.

One of the few survivors, 13-year-old Tan Long, jumped off the building to escape the deadly disaster, but he was still horrified by the scene after almost eight days of the quake.

[Tan Long, Earthquake Survivor]:
"I jumped off the school building and ran towards the gate. The building collapsed then and lots of my classmates were buried under the rubble."

Now grieving parents are venting their anger at local officials... they say the officials knew the building was substandard. Parents say the building was rattled down within seconds after the quake like "a piece of paper."

When the New Number Two Primary School fell, parents, relatives and friends of the pupils rushed to the site.

[Xu Jun, Father of Victim]:
"At that time, family members dug through the rubble with bare hands and carried away rubble by bare shoulders. We didn't have any heavy machinery. Look at my arm, it was hurt."

Angry parents showed journalists the rubble of the school building, which they said was constructed with fragile materials. All the walls were made of cheap bricks, glued by cement that can be easily crushed by hands.

[Xiong Yunhang, Father of Victim]:
"My child was not in the classroom, but was there near the toilet. He didn't manage to escape. Can you imagine how fast the building collapsed? It just collapsed as soon as the earthquake happened."

The loss of so many children strikes hard in China, where the CCP's family planning policies mean that most have only one child.
