The Kenya National Union of Teachers is threatening to take unspecified action if the government goes ahead to hire over twelve thousand qualified teachers on contract. The union says the government plan is exploitative and wants the education ministry to use the 1.3 billion shillings that was set-aside in this years budget to employ teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

  • These teachers need to style up if they have to earn more...why Kenya has such lousy MPs and clueless voters has everything to do with the poor education standards in classrooms. An article on teachers' poor English Language skills notes that 40% of trainee teachers cannot pass their own exams! Howz that?

  • The unions always play games with teachers salaries.
