Over a year ago I uploaded a bird video (still up here) called 'Which Bird is This, Please? (S.E. Australia) That pair were finally identified as a lorikeet hybrid (musk/rainbow) The other day ,chancing to glance out of a window (on the Bellarine Peninsula, Australia) I happened to spot these rather exotic looking creatures (presumably again, lorikeets but a different pattern from my first pair) . I sprang into action and was lucky enough to capture this footage. ( The quality is not that good I'm afraid, but not bad considering taken with hand-held, SD camcorder through a very dirty kitchen window! My question to you Australian Lorikeet experts is:- Is this again a musk/rainbow cross or is it some other combo?
The music is also all Australian : from Frank Bourke and the White Rose Orchestra (taken from one of my vinyl collection) (I just like to keep it alive! )
wow they are gorgeous birds! i cant help with an ID but ill check my books later and see if i can find anything!

The bird on the left is a musk/rainbow hybrid, the one on the right is what I would guess to be a rainbow/scaley hybrid. There are possible hybrids of all 3 as well. The patterns and markings can vary significantly amongst individual hybrids, some musk/rainbows can have a lot of red on the head, more then a normal musk, some can have none but still have the musk body shape. Scaley/rainbow hybrids can look like small greenish rainbows or like normal scaleys with blue-ish heads.
