A 1st floor tour of Barracks 430 at MCAS Futenma.
A side trip to see someone's Scabies (skin burrowing mites) infested furniture.
Next a quick shot of the RENTAL CENTER. It was a place to rent TVs, VCRs, Video Tapes and even the 1983 RCA 2 piece (3, if you count the "corded" image tube based hand-held camera part) VHS recorder, with which I shot all of my 1986 footage shown on Youtube.
Then a brief view of the break room, which had video arcade games, a ping-pong table, several pool tables (some even without vomit from drunks that sometimes slept on them... yes, some Marines did get so drunk that they couldn't remember where their room was located), vending machines and even a few pinball machines.
An even quicker shot of the LAUNDRY & DRY CLEANING shop, that really became necessary after any promotion (or demotion...) to get all of your new stripes put on to your uniforms correctly.
Lastly, a visit to the MATCS-18 NCO side of the barracks.

Omg. I lived in room 108, Barracks 430, from mid 1976- mid 1977. At the time, all of Crash Crew had that hallway. Mama-sans washed/ironed our uniforms in the laundry room. Pay phones were in the hallway. Thanks for memories!

I was there 10 years earlier from 1976-1977. What happened to the mama-sans? They washed/ironed uniforms in the laundry room. I was with Crash Crew. The videos have really brought back the memories. I thought I would return one day for a visit, as a civilian, but never did. Thanks!

OMG. I lived in Barracks 430 and Room 108. I've got old "return addresses" in my attic to prove it! Unbelievable. I even had the bottom left bunk bed as you leave the room that is shown in the video. I was here June 1976 - June 1977. At the time, mostly MCAS Crash Crew lived in the rooms in this hallway. This was filmed 10 years later. I don't see the hallway payphones, or the mamasans in the laundry room. The mamasans washed/ironed our uniforms each day for dirt cheap prices. Awesome.

Bottom left bunk was mine too! FAAD Battery was in the hallway with us. I think they took out the hallway pay phones and left only onbase phones in their place. The mamasans were still around, but mostly picked up and dropped off peoples laundry. We (MATCS-18: Marine Air Traffic Control Squadron) moved from a previous barracks (I don't recall the number) that was close to the Base Library and MARS Station. Lived in 430 for around a year, and then my unit moved on more time, to 461.
