Warning! This video contains screaming people. Sounds like the old live concerts of the Beatles or Elvis Presley. Don't worry, nobody actually fainted. Enjoy!
Avalon - May 25. 2007
Lutz Eikelmann - sousaphone
Hein Overbeek - banjo
Michel Muller - trumpet
Bert Brandsma - alto sax
Hein Overbeek was the original banjo player when the Dixieland Crackerjacks started in 1994. When the band became professional one year later, Hein could not combine this with his regular dayjob. He remained a favourite banjo helpout till this day.
Michel Muller was first trumpet man from the very first gig in 1994 and hold this position in all the years since.
Bert Brandsma founded the band.
In 1995 Hein, Michel and Bert met Lutz Eikelmann on the Isle of Borkum and remained friends till today. Lutz leads his own Lutzemann's Jatzkapelle in Germany but helps out whenever the Crackerjacks need somebody.
This film was made when the band had 20 odd jobs in 13 days, so people like Slidin' Selena and Koos Greven simply needed a day for themselves. (Musicians also have private lives, gardens, dentists, bills to pay etc. All things that cost time)

  • True or false?

In this video, Michel Muller has the shaker.

  • That's correct, however we used several shakers, Michel has an aubergine!

In the beginning we also had an apple, but that one was unconvenient to carry when plaing the horns.

The children on the fun parc loved it,.... heee mamma, that girl has a banana!

  • @ABrandsma Sorry for the late reply, but who had the apple in the beginning?

  • We planned that, since the apple was red, Michel would use it.

    But it didnt work.

  • I remember these musical marathon events. Nicely done Bert. This was recorded yesterday? 32 gigs this month and still creative talents to edit and post a film and still writing the editorial on the right. My compliments on your talent and energy!

  • Yes, this was posted the same day as recorded. I was a bit in a hurry, so didn't spent much time editing, but simply wanted it online.
