I think the point is to start with yourself. Find your own voice and don't be afraid. Everyone one of us practiced this at some point in our lives probably when we were very young. Then itI was suppressed and with time fear was drivin in and subduing it. Now we are afraid to just speak Afraid people are going to react in the worse ways.
