Live broadcast of the concert in Hannover , on 6th February 2009 in the NDR Landesfunkhaus, Grosser Saal.

Recitativo " Pompe vane di morte!" and Aria "Dove sei? amato bene" of Bertarido from the Opera "Rodelinda, Regina di Langobardi" (HWV 19).

This opera- seria was based on a libretto by Nicola Francesco Haym, in turn based on an earlier libretto by Antonio Salvi. Salvi's libretto originated with Pierre Corneilles play " Pertharite, roi des Lombards".

The first performance of "Rodelinda" was on 13th February (!) 1725 at the Kings Theatre, Haymarket in London .
With the 14 performances it was the most successful opera of the Royal Academy of Music and was repeated on 18th December 1725, and again on 4th May 1731. This opera was performed also at the Gänsemarktoper in Hamburg with the German recitativs on 1735-36.

The first cast were the same great singer like in "Tamerlano" short before :

Grimoaldo, Duke of Benevento, Bertarido's usurper -Francesco Borosini
Eduige, Bertarido's sister, betrothed to Grimoaldo - Anna Vicenza Dotti
Unulfo, Bertarido's friend and counsellor - Andrea Pacini
Garibaldo, Grimoaldo's counsellor, duke of Turin - Giuseppe Maria Boschi.
