They are saying there was 15 years of massive deregulation and thats what caused the problem, Mr. Gramm said of his critics. I just dont see any evidence of it.......DUH!
This is a direct quote from a man who really deserves to be thrown into prison for his actions.
How many Texas politicians have to thrown into jail before the American people realize that it is one of the most politcally corrupt states in the entire country?

The middle class are horrible horrible people. I know from experience.

"Why should I have to change my way of life for you?"
Sounds like a typical 'ME FIRST' sort of comment, kinda selfish too, when you take into account the world that we leave future Americans.
As far as moving to the EU goes, sure, I wouldn't mind living there part of the year, proabaly will some day. For now though, the US suits me just fine. A little conservation and forward thinking never killed anyone.

Ok, easy enough....move to Europe. Sounds like you'll like it there a lot better. The U.S. just doesn't suit you....
Why should I have to change my way of life for you? See, that's where you are selfish.

I don't find conservation and temperance selfish. If you want to blame the failure of the economy on something, blame Alan Greenspan's manipulations, irresponsible lending practices, job outsourcing as a result of the ever increasing demand for cheaper and cheaper products. Like I said, the rest of the world has been paying far higher gas prices than we and it didn't destroy their economies. Economical cars, mass transit (subways), good city planning, Europeans are walkers and bike riders.

You may have somewhat of a point...we may not need that many bases...but whatever it takes to keep us safe here, i'm all for it. But the amount of wasteful spending we do here in our own country is really what is causing our shortfall. The federal gov't should be about a quarter of the size it is.
-
So in other words, you really do want to destroy our economy for your own selfish desires. How about this....Let the market take care of it! When an economically feasible alternative energy comes around, we will begin the switch. But to force it upon us before it's economically feasible will destroy this economy. Believe me, if you think it's bad now...just wait!

Good riddance
I believe we need more public transportation in America. There is nothing wrong ridig your bike on short distances. Maybe it will get some of the fat asses off the coach. Don't forget we have a problem with Obestity too.
