P.S.I. is a multiplayer first-person shooter prototype with a very unique idea. Ghosts are haunting an old mansion and have to be taken down, but only one of the ghost hunters -- the one equipped with an unique displaying device -- is able to see them. Both parties, hunters and ghosts, have to communicate among each other, in order to win the game.
The game prototype was developed back in 2007 by a small group of students attending the Media Technology and Design Bachelors degree program at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg, Austria. It features realtime multiplayer for a minimum of 3 players (due to game design), extensive post processing effects, dynamic ambient music and VoIP. P.S.I. was developed using C++, the OGRE 3D graphics engine, RakNet Multiplayer Game Network Engine, FMOD Interactive Audio Middleware, the Newton Game Dynamics physics engine, and Autodesk Maya.
