Messi been done again with the golden Ball, the third one in his career.
Messi, Cristiano and Xavi.
The Brazilian Ronaldo was the one that delivered the award to Lionel Messi.

"It's a huge pleasure for me," Messi said, after accepting the trophy from another three-time winner, retired Brazilian forward Ronaldo. "It's the third time I get this award, and it's a huge honor."

The only other three-time winners are Ronaldo (1996-97 and 2002) and Zinedine Zidane (1998, 2000 and 2003). The FIFA award was renamed last year, when it merged with France Football's Golden Ball.

Messi scored 55 goals in 2011 for Barcelona, which won its third Champions League title in six seasons, and he had four goals for Argentina's national team. Barcelona won five trophies last year.

Messi received 47.88 percent of the points in votes cast by national team coaches and captains plus selected reporters. Cristiano Ronaldo finished second with 21.6 percent and Xavi got 9.23 percent to finish third for the third straight year.

"This one is very special because I want to share this with my friend and teammate Xavi. He deserves it," Messi said.

A major international tournament victory is all that now eludes Messi.

Guardiola and Ferguson agreed at an earlier news conference that Messi should be considered alongside Pele, Diego Maradona and Alfredo di Stefano.

"Now he can sit beside them. It's a huge award, no?" Guardiola said.
Messi joined Michel Platini winning the Ballon d'Or for three consecutive years, though the France great won from 1983-85 when only European players were eligible. Dutch forwards Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten also received three Ballon d'Or awards in their careers.

Neymar was voted the Puskas Award for the goal of the year, winning fan voting for a solo run for Santos through the Flamengo defense. The other finalists were Manchester United's Wayne Rooney for his bicycle kick in a Premier League match against Manchester City and Messi for his goal against Arsenal in a second-round, second-leg Champions League match.

  • Some people must realise what a 'Mental Barrier' is.

Ronaldo raised the bar for the players playing now, there was a time where his goal tally at Barca was unheard of.

For Example: if i lift 130KG and set a record, then someone comes and lifts 140 an breaks the record..then the rest of the competitors limitation wont be 130 it will be 140.

The person that done it first did VERY WELL and the rest will know it is POSSIBLE.

Then they will aim for...140 and more

    Breaking that barrier and limitation

  • BRILLIANT! I was waiting and hoping that one of you R9 fan video makers would post this up! excellent!!! though you should crop out the part with the video presentation of R9 only. its epic in itself.

  • @thegoonist i will uplaod only the R9 part soon

  • Ronaldo was good for only when he played with Brazil. At the club level he was flop except 97/98. He even could not win single champions league with all stars Madrid team. He was just scorer nothing more than that. Messi is more dynamic and complete .He scores, he assists from the middle of the pitch as a play maker.

  • @deepa550 Not really. Ronaldo actually revolutionised football.

2003 at Madrid he was amazing. You forgot to mention 96 and even at Inter.

Messi plays at a team where every player brings out the best in the other.

Imagine Ronaldo at the current Barcelona with such passing of Xavi etc..

You talk about the career with the most memories and a fighting spirit, you talk about Ronaldo. Also, despite injury he remained TOP. Shows alot

  • @endosch you are fucking cave man or a kid if you don't know ronaldo...go back under you rock or play with ur legos

  • Ronaldo should give it to himself, no other player come close to what Ronaldo defined in his best which is very scary to think that his best years when he was still a teenager...imagine if he never injury this man would have won tripple times all his trophies and awards.
